ooh people are pissed off! I am an open-minded person so why the hell would people ban gay marriage? I thought we lived in an Equal Oppertunity State?? This isn't the 1950's, this is 2009...
grow up people.
The Romans practiced it (The men would marry women and the men would have boyfriend sexual partners....). Hell it was practiced even before the Bible was 'invented' and you don't know how accurate the 'Bible' because most of it was verbal until written word 'was invented' , (and you know the telephone game goes, not everything is passed 100%)......is ... if you want me to go into that, I will but that will be a whole new post about it.
The only thing that people might find is 'wrong' is closed-minded people. Those who are closed-minded , open up your history books and you will see, it was the norm back then.
My best friend is gay and he is the smartest and funniest person he will ever be. I remember when he came out back in high school, we must have been sophomores, it was in the middle 90s (I graduated from high school in Michigan in 98'). I didn't care he came out, I figured if hewas happy liking men, then so be it. But some people who were his friend (guys) befriended him and now years later, they are friends again....
my point is, this is something that should NOT be voted on. It is like abortion. you can't vote on human life, once you do, then what is the point of 'freedom' and the 'American Dream' ?
does this piss me off the way the vote ended? Hell yes. and I don't live in Maine. And I am 100% straight, and married to a man (I am a woman).
if people are happy, let them be. period.
According to the AP, 70 of 608 precincts reporting, a vote to uphold the gay-marriage law had 53% of the votes Tuesday night, AP says.
here are the results below:
| REJECT SAME-SEX MARRIAGE LAW |
| Yes |
266324 |
52.75% |
| No |
238595 |
47.25% |
although it was a close race and it should be overturned by next election...which it probably will.
